The highly-awaited second season of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel arrives on Prime Video soon, and fan speculation has been widespread.
The first season introduces a diverse group of personalities living within the afterlife, pits them against each other with musical numbers about their clashes, and establishes heated competitions and emotional bonds that drive audience devotion.
The fandom's stated hopes for the new season vary widely, but certain themes recur frequently: Will Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the binding agreement affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with fan service specifically in mind," the creator commented earlier this year. "But I believe that me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator reveals her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by the production companies, which produce the series.
That might mean fans have to wait years for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how quickly season 2 moves, and how many of what they're anticipating unfolds now.
"I believe people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we receive some really amazing reveals, some really cool origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience much more singing from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about season 2 — especially in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've seen a few fans create a bingo card about season 2," she says. "Naturally I can't post it, but I've actually done some of them, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 premieres on the streaming service on October 29.
